STUDENT HEALTH CENTER
NYU’s Student Health Center (SHC) is a campus resource and service center for all matriculated students. Appointment-based and walk-in medical and counseling services are available at either no cost or a very reduced cost to all NYU students, regardless of insurance coverage. Their goal is to add great value to the NYU experience for students and great comfort in knowing that a safety net for basic healthcare exists at NYU. A note about health insurance: International students are automatically enrolled in NYU Student Health Insurance. All other students should check in advance with their insurance provider to determine if the SHC is within their covered network.
NYU WELLNESS EXCHANGE
The NYU Wellness Exchange is a 24-hour private hotline where you can speak with a counselor to discuss any health or mental health concerns. The hotline is also available if you just need to talk or are feeling lonely. As we know January Term can be intense, feel free to call 212-443-9999 at any time.
The NYU Department of Public Safety provides security for all students, staff, and faculty on the University’s campus 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Officers are stationed in buildings and patrol campus to ensure that students feel safe and comfortable. Officers are also available at all times via the Public Safety Hotline (212-998-2222– add it to your contacts now!) and in person at their command center at 7 Washington Place. As NYU is “in and of the city,” and you will likely be exploring beyond the limits of Greenwich Village, we encourage all students to review Safety in the City tips.
